During the 2023 Leiden Art Route, I exhibited with Frances Rompas and Lotus Rooijakkers in a vacant building, Rapenburg 112a. I created the installation “Twin Rooms” occupying two rooms on the attic floor.
The two attic rooms appear identical at first glance, with the dividing wall serving as a mirror. However, there are slight differences in dimensions and traces of the past. By “replacing” furniture in the two rooms, this difference is reduced. At the same time, the two rooms have been precisely measured, and the floor plan and elevations have been drawn on the dividing wall on both sides. Thus, the two attic rooms form “identical twins,” with the differences between them not visible from a single vantage point.Me and my twin brother 🙂 As you can see, there are great similarities and small differences between my brother and I. Similarities and differences that my brother and I will never be able to perceive.
